J line table saw
Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE MY TABLESAW, and mine isn’t going anywhere any time soon! I use it on just about every project. Either way, there really is no better time than now to think about how one might survive in a post-tablesaw world. Curious about how dangerous a kickback can be? Watch this! Or perhaps you are a “Don’t tread on me!” type and you’d rather go without a tablesaw than to use one with new government-mandated safety features. After all, even SawStop can’t stop what seems to be the most common tablesaw injury: the kickback. Perhaps SawStop’s fear-mongering campaigns (see left) worked a little too well and you decide that owning a tablesaw just isn’t worth the risk, flesh-detecting or not. Now that our government is very close to forcing manufacturers to implement a new safety device, you can’t help but think about what life would be like without the tablesaw. Even before this whole SawStop debacle, the tablesaw was seen as one of the most dangerous tools in the shop.

NOTE: After purchasing this item, you will be able to access the Parts List & Installation Manual in the “Downloads” section. After reading this article from Fine Woodworking today about California possibly being the first state to enforce “SawStop-like technology”, I started to wonder about the future of tablesaws. Package Includes: This listing includes the front rail, fence extrusion, front sliding assembly and all hardware needed. Optional Accessories: The fence extrusion has 2 T-slots on all 4 sides which allows for endless opportunities for creating different jigs and accessories – anywhere from a simple stop block to a tennon jig. Tape Measure Included: The fence system includes a tape measure rail, a cursor/marker, and an adhesive backed tape measure. The rail supports and the vertical fence support can be cut/shortened to size as well. The eccentric spacers on the sliders allow adjustment of the tension between the wheels and the rails. This is beneficial in smaller workspaces where the physical footprint of the fence system can be reduced when needed.Īdjustability: The design of this system allows for easily adjustability all around! The rail screws on the front rail mounts allow adjustability of the fence to be parallel with the miter slot.
This allows for increase or decrease of the cutting capacity using the fence. No drilling mounting holes here! The front slider is designed such that existing mounting holes can be used while the height of the fence can easily be adjusted using the anchor fasteners.įlexible Design: Due to the unique design, the front rail can be slid left or right. The bearings have dust caps which increases longevity.Įasy Installation: This system was designed with ease of installation in mind. Stainless steel wheel bearings provide smooth and consistent motion across these rails and also have adjustable tension using eccentric spacers. Smooth Movement: Our design uses highly precise, open source OpenBuilds V slot extrusions which have built in linear rails.
The rail is a 2020 OpenBuilds V slot extrusion. It uses 80/20’s double anchor fasteners between the fence connection and the slider assembly which provide the strongest mechanical connection possible. However, the unique sliders in our design keep the fence perfectly square at all times.īuilt Using Sturdy Aluminum Extrusions: The fence extrusion is a 2″ x 2″ and is made from AA 6063-T6 aluminum alloy. Many fence systems rely on them being clamped down in order to align with the miter slot. This, by far is the biggest advantage of our design. Self Aligning: The fence ALWAYS remains parallel to your table saw’s miter slot, even during movement.
